I received my BA from Ohio University. I was lucky enough to dive into my studio art classes with some of the best artists around (OK, I may be a little biased but really; best artists, PERIOD). The faculty at OU thrived on making their mini artists question, critique, lose their mind, & question their art some more. Until they felt that they may truly die from lack of conceptual ideas, much less the manifestation of these ‘ideas’. I graduated in 2011, with a handful of paintings that were good enough to throw on a website. I’ve spent my time since college focusing less on conceptual ideas & more on the materials in hand. While discovering what my materials can do for me, I find myself never being able to fight the urge to add more color & texture. I’ve given up on fighting this urge and now embrace it. I continue to find new ways to manipulate the paint & manifest my ideas. I encourage you to take notice to the variation in color, value, texture & movement in my art. These paintings are simply abstractions of everyday life, feelings & concerns. They’re inspired by my surroundings & are focused far more on the materials than the message.

Unfinished vs. Finished.

Hey Everyone!!!

I have been so busy lately... but I have been working on some new pieces. I have set a goal for myself to finish any paintings sitting around my house that I felt were unfinished. I consider myself great at knowing when to walk away from a work in process... HOWEVER, I do not consider myself great at coming back to it in a timely manner. Thanks to a lovely lady for a Christmas present of $50 to spend at JoAnn fabrics... I bought these lovely paint markers. Just as the girl working the art section had warned me, I LOVE THEM-and I am having a hard time putting them down. I cannot wait to push my illustrative side to the edge, and come up with some great drawings. In the mean time, to get used to the way the markers work and feel, I put them to the test, when trying to finish an unfinished piece. I was not crazy about my (unfinished) Plum Run Winery painting from my Colors & Bottles event earlier in December-but now I adore it. I can not wait to frame it, and get it on my Etsy Shop (once I get that up and running).

Enjoy the process photos-disregard the low-quality of the photos... I'm still rocking my non-smart, but fully functional camera phone.

Thanks for visiting, I'll have another update in a few days.

Peace, Love, and ART!
