I received my BA from Ohio University. I was lucky enough to dive into my studio art classes with some of the best artists around (OK, I may be a little biased but really; best artists, PERIOD). The faculty at OU thrived on making their mini artists question, critique, lose their mind, & question their art some more. Until they felt that they may truly die from lack of conceptual ideas, much less the manifestation of these ‘ideas’. I graduated in 2011, with a handful of paintings that were good enough to throw on a website. I’ve spent my time since college focusing less on conceptual ideas & more on the materials in hand. While discovering what my materials can do for me, I find myself never being able to fight the urge to add more color & texture. I’ve given up on fighting this urge and now embrace it. I continue to find new ways to manipulate the paint & manifest my ideas. I encourage you to take notice to the variation in color, value, texture & movement in my art. These paintings are simply abstractions of everyday life, feelings & concerns. They’re inspired by my surroundings & are focused far more on the materials than the message.

Esty Shop in the making... :)

Happy Monday folks!

Why am I so chirpy and happy on this Monday morning do you ask?

WELL, pretty simple-I am one step closer to opening my Etsy Site. I am so very excited about this endeavor. I have photographed all my paintings, and plan on selling framed, matted prints of all of them ranging from sizes 5x7 up to 16x20-maybe larger-depending, and I also plan on selling canvas prints. I will keep you updated as we get closer to March 5th. This is a very special day for me because it's the Esty Shop's GRAND OPENING!

I need to send a special THANK YOU! To my brother-in-law for photographing my paintings. You, my friend, have earned yourself a couple free prints (and some free babysitting)! :)

I am also taking Esty Shop name suggestions: get those creative juices flowing-if I use your name you earn yourself a free print (8x12) as well! I will be sending in images to the print lab in the next couple weeks.

Email me at brittany.ann.hahn@gmail.com with name suggestions!
My only requirement is that it contains my name somewhere... Brittany or Hahn, doesn't need both.

An Ode to Mrs. Judy Ross...

Hey Everyone!!!

First and foremost I wanted to take a second to thank an artist that is near and dear to my heart. Mrs. Judy Ross, teaches at St. Francis DeSales High School, and is retiring soon. I wanted to tell her thank you for giving me an artistic outlet and teaching me that I could be an artist. She is the primary reason I studied art in College, and reminds me that every child has the ability to be an artist. You just need to help them find their inner-artistic voice, I hope to one day be half the teacher she was to me and my classmates. CONGRATULATIONS Mrs. Ross on retiring, I wish you the best. Maybe the students need to bring brownies to YOU in celebration.

On a side note: just to keep everyone up to date... I am currently booking some dates for the month of Febuary for
Colors & Bottles (<<<CHECK THEM OUT). I am currently scheduled for Febuary 11th and 26th. I am also working on getting some merchandise and paintings ready for my Etsy Site. The site will be up and running for a GRAND-OPENING in early March. I have a commisioned piece and I working on, and meeting with new people for possible commissioned pieces in the future. I have been submitting artwork like crazy to local galleries, so hopefully I will have a few gallery announcments coming up. Well that's all folks... please keep in touch and feel free to contact me via email at brittany.ann.hahn@gmail.com.

Also, keep in mind I will be instructing one of my Favorite paintings on Febuary 11th at Plum Run Winery in Grove City. You can always book private events with Colors & Bottles and request me as an artist, you just need 10 people and we can provide the space/venue if needed.

I will be in touch soon, with new photos!

Unfinished vs. Finished.

Hey Everyone!!!

I have been so busy lately... but I have been working on some new pieces. I have set a goal for myself to finish any paintings sitting around my house that I felt were unfinished. I consider myself great at knowing when to walk away from a work in process... HOWEVER, I do not consider myself great at coming back to it in a timely manner. Thanks to a lovely lady for a Christmas present of $50 to spend at JoAnn fabrics... I bought these lovely paint markers. Just as the girl working the art section had warned me, I LOVE THEM-and I am having a hard time putting them down. I cannot wait to push my illustrative side to the edge, and come up with some great drawings. In the mean time, to get used to the way the markers work and feel, I put them to the test, when trying to finish an unfinished piece. I was not crazy about my (unfinished) Plum Run Winery painting from my Colors & Bottles event earlier in December-but now I adore it. I can not wait to frame it, and get it on my Etsy Shop (once I get that up and running).

Enjoy the process photos-disregard the low-quality of the photos... I'm still rocking my non-smart, but fully functional camera phone.

Thanks for visiting, I'll have another update in a few days.

Peace, Love, and ART!
