I received my BA from Ohio University. I was lucky enough to dive into my studio art classes with some of the best artists around (OK, I may be a little biased but really; best artists, PERIOD). The faculty at OU thrived on making their mini artists question, critique, lose their mind, & question their art some more. Until they felt that they may truly die from lack of conceptual ideas, much less the manifestation of these ‘ideas’. I graduated in 2011, with a handful of paintings that were good enough to throw on a website. I’ve spent my time since college focusing less on conceptual ideas & more on the materials in hand. While discovering what my materials can do for me, I find myself never being able to fight the urge to add more color & texture. I’ve given up on fighting this urge and now embrace it. I continue to find new ways to manipulate the paint & manifest my ideas. I encourage you to take notice to the variation in color, value, texture & movement in my art. These paintings are simply abstractions of everyday life, feelings & concerns. They’re inspired by my surroundings & are focused far more on the materials than the message.

Art, Artists, and People

Art, Artists, and People that Inspire...

Initially when I created this blog I wanted it to be a place where people could keep in touch with my projects (past and current). I have decided to expand this blog to a place where you can also see the things that inspire me. I use my family and heritage as a way to fuel my desire to make art, I wish to always keep in mind the people who have worked hard to allow me to do the things I love--which is making art.

Keeping this in mind, I have also met a lot of fellow artists that also inspire me to keep trucking on and creating. I will always remember the people, professors & faculty, and many lessons learned through Ohio University-School of Art. They taught me the importance of always creating and never ceasing to push myself as an artist. They also taught me that the art world is a wonderful community to be involved in, and that I should cherish each artist I meet and appreciate the works they have done and are currently doing. This community of people will always know what you go through as an individual trying to find and evolve your artistic voice and that in itself is the beauty of fellow artists.

So, as I continue to showcase the works that I am creating... I want to take the time to showcase some other artists who inspire me to keep creating. I hope you feel so inclined as to visit these Facebook pages or blogs, and support these men and women as they continue to push themselves as artists.

I hope you find the time to enjoy these websites, blogs, and Facebook pages. I will be sharing more artists or photographs of the many things in life that inspire me.

Mama Bird Charms

Calling all Moms, Grandmas, and the people that love them...

No new photos of the project previously mentioned... BUT I do have better quality photos of the Mama Bird charm I made my beloved mother. These charms are an amazing way to showcase the amount of children or grandchildren one has. I am so very excited that I have an order in place for another beloved Mama Bird in South Park, PA. Mama Rhoades is very dear to my heart and I can't wait for her to see the wonderful charm coming her way!

Future Mama Birds in the making :)

My Mother's charm, she has 3 daughters and 4 grandkids... These charms can be as big or small as the Mama Bird wants it to be. :)

Close up detailed shot, notice my mother's choice of a stronger chain for a bigger charm.
These charms are made to order, so also priced to order. they can be as inexpensive as $10, and as expensive as $75. It all depends on the quality of silver, beads, stones, pearls, etc. You know where to reach me if you're interested, I'm sure you're Mama Bird would appreciate the gesture.  :)

Thanks for checking back folks! More fun projects to come :)
Peace&Love.

I will be checking back in with photos of my current projects, I am so very excited about! Let's just say, they include my two favorite things... books and illustrations! And no, I am not illustrating a book. :)
